GLASSBORO – Students in the Glassboro School District have elevated their focus on writing this school year. Mr. Clark’s and Mrs. Winston’s fifth-grade students at Thomas E. Bowe School, pictured above, host writing celebrations with teachers, administrators, parents and classmates. Students recently shared personal narratives on varied topics, such as Just Dancing to the Beat, First Time Swimming, My Remote Control Helicopter, London/United Kingdom, My Week at the Beach, Riding Go Carts, The First Time I Met a Friend and more.

The writing celebrations stem from the Writing Workshop Model that Glassboro School District has implemented. “At the end of each writing unit all children have the opportunity to pick their favorite pieces to publish and to share with their classmates. Parents, caregivers, and friends are invited to attend the publishing celebration. Glassboro students now join many peers around the world who enjoy writing daily using the Writing Workshop Model,” said Danielle Sochor, Glassboro School District’s director of curriculum and personnel.
