Glassboro - Glassboro High School students collected more than 900 food items to donate to the needy. The Student Government Association helped organize the collection, which was one of the contests for Spirit Week. The contest awarded points based on the number and quality of food items donated (e.g., more points for canned goods versus ramen noodles). High school students competed across grade levels, with the senior class coming out ahead. Students throughout the high school made generous donations. Ellen Bernard, parent of senior Tim Bernard and sophomore Andrew Bernard, donated cases of soup from her employer, the Campbell Soup Company. Last week, students, SGA Advisor John Cino and others helped sort the canned goods and load them onto a trailer pulled by Board Member June Longley. SGA and Interact Club Members worked together to prepare the items for delivery. Longley delivered the items to the Samaritan Center on Main Street in Glassboro.
